PETRA conducts research and development of new-generation device and networking technologies by utilizing photonics electronics convergence technology.
- Technological Development of High-Efficiency and High-Speed Processing Distributed Computing System using Heterogenous Material Integrated Optoelectronics
Our goal is to achieve high-speed distributed computing that enables computing with low transmission energy and the sharing of computing resources according to each situation among computing bases that are regionally separated and interconnected to each other.
More specifically, in order to eliminate the transmission bottleneck of server-to-server connections, we are developing a 10-Tbps-class photonic transceiver with low power consumption (<10 pJ/bit). As the core component of this technology, a photonic integrated circuit using heterogeneous semiconductor direct bonding technology is in development, and we are also developing a multi-directional elastic network tecnology (architecture, distributed computing middleware).
